The Merchandising Graphic Artist with the Apparel team supports the Hanesbrands Inc./Under Armour Sideline team through the translation of graphics from conceptual to actual production art. Translation outputs include sketch placements & modifications, double checking licensing restrictions, communicating art needs to factories & uploading results to Under Armour based partners.



Merchandising Graphic Artist may do light design work or heavily modified base art conversions outside of main area of responsibility. Will also assist in development of collateral materials for other brands including, but not limited to: color validation boards, trend boards, ideation compilation, thumbnails, merchandising boards, and fixture boards. Will also assist team with work load overflow in terms of: measuring samples, filing materials, logging results.


  1. Responsible for the timely and accurate execution of factory developed art. Strong communication both to the factory supplier as well as to Under Armour based partners is mandatory. This position is primarily focused on name-dropping of base art on high profile universities. On occasion, heavy modification of base art may be required.
  2. Have a strong knowledge of HBI product line, style, color, location codes and process methods. Learn supplier capabilities as well.
  3. Full knowledge of Under Armour Sideline color stories, collections, graphic release packages, licensing restrictions: aware of client school colors, mascots and other client specific needs.
  4. Have a strong knowledge of screen print, embroidery, and fusion production requirements. Full knowledge of ink, thread, and twill color palettes is required.
  5. Possesses market knowledge for each Sideline division within our department. Stay current on design styles and trends for this market.
  6. Problem-solve and produce very quickly in fast paces situations with a high degree of accuracy in a highly demanding environment.
  7. Balances and prioritizes time and efforts in business size, ROI, season and workflow.
  8. Communicates clearly and partners smoothly with internal and external clients, maintaining policies and procedures relating to overall departmental project flow.
  9. As time allows: Create graphic packages and other collateral for projects assigned by Sr. Manager.
  10. Support Apparel team as needed via sample analysis, filing and logging. Help with annual Sales Meetings.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or equivalent industry related experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in graphic design or apparel design is preferred
  • Mastery of Macintosh computer and graphic design software (Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator)
  • Understanding of basic graphic art concepts such as composition, color relationships and balance
  • Must pass color test
